Most Popular Coffee Cocktails

There are so many ways to enjoy coffee in the modern day and age. Are you the sort of person who gets up in the morning and makes yourself a cup of coffee before you do anything else?

For many of us, coffee is a morning ritual. We use our little coffee helpers to get us going in the morning, but you can enjoy coffee in the evening, too, and as a chance to unwind with a beautiful coffee-flavoured cocktail.

The relationship between coffee and alcohol is nothing new, and there are loads of exciting drinks for you to sample no matter what sort of beverage you usually prefer. Let’s dive into some of the most popular coffee flavoured cocktails.

Irish Coffee

Irish coffee is one of the most popular cocktails and also one of the easiest to make. You may just be able to add to a coffee made by your coffee machine at home to make one of these beautiful cocktails. Some people just add whiskey to existing coffee drinks (this can be virtually any type of coffee).

To give it more of a coffee cocktail feel we recommend preheating a glass, then adding whisky and syrup before you add your coffee. You can then pour cream over the back of a pre-warmed spoon which will let it sit nicely on top of the coffee in question. Garish this with some more demerara sugar or even some nutmeg if you like.

White Russian

The White Russian is another drink that you can prepare in a variety of different ways. Many people don’t use any brewed coffee in the drink, instead focusing on coffee liqueurs which are then added to vodka and cream to create this sweet treat.

Coffee can be incorporated more if you want a pickup, such as adding an espresso shot to your White Russian. For many, this drink is as simple as a coffee liqueur such as Tia Maria or Kahlúa, added to cream and vodka.

Espresso Martini

There are many different ‘origin stories’ for the Espresso Martini. Some claim it originated in the US, some say it has been made for a long time in Italy. A lot of people think it was created in a London bar by famous bartender Dick Bradsell, who began serving the drink in the 1980s.

Whatever the back story of this drink, it is undeniably one of the most impressive and delicious coffee cocktails.

The Espresso Martini can be made relatively easily.

Mix 1 part vodka to ⅔ part Kahlua (or other coffee liqueur) before adding the same ⅔ part of espresso and plenty of ice. Shake all of this together in your trusted cocktail shaker.

Once it’s ready you can garnish with a few coffee beans on top and you will likely have a delicious, frothy-looking cocktail that can keep you going for the rest of the evening. Espresso Martinis are the ultimate pick me up on a night out.

Cold Brew Negroni

Now let’s delve into a drink that has become extremely popular in recent years. The Cold Brew Negroni has grown in popularity as more people wake up to the fact that cold brew is a delicious drink, which is now very mainstream too.

To make this, we follow the following recipe:

- Ice
- 1.5 ounces cold brew
- 1 ounce rum or gin
- 0.5 ounce Campari
- 0.5 ounce Sweet Vermouth
- Orange twist

Firstly you will want to use cold brew (either make it yourself or buy it from the store). You can use concentrate which is diluted with water.

Then we add some Campari which can give a little bit more bitterness, don’t overdo it here. Next up is the vermouth, a sweet vermouth serves to balance out the flavours perfectly. 0.5 ounces is enough.

You can next add some rum or gin to create that punch to the drink. Rum is unusual but it tends to work really nicely for a warm beverage. Stir it all together with ice cubes and you’ll be ready to serve your drink.

Summary

On a night out, more and more people are ordering coffee cocktails, they’re incredibly stylish and a way to keep you going long into the night without feeling the drowsy effects of the alcohol too much.

If you’re throwing a dinner party, an Irish Coffee or even something more modern and exciting like an Espresso Martini is something to get your guests excited but also ensure that they remain good conversation for the rest of the evening.

As coffee becomes more and more mainstream in the world of cocktails, there are other exciting drinks that you can try. In this post, we’ve just listed some of the most popular, but less mainstream drinks like the Cafe Correcto con Coco are equally exciting and very impressive to serve.
