ACAIA SCALE Brand Collab
“Is that your computer? Is it a heater for your coffee?” were among some of the musings I encountered throughout my journey, often following up with something like, “not really, but sort of I guess…”
While planning for my latest Asian escapade, I was really inspired by the art direction that Acaia had going on and knew I had to make the collaborative connection. Jenn Chen, the genius behind the scale’s digital marketing, got on the conversation, and we were soon drafting up strategies for how to capture the process of great coffee in the most abstract environments.
Fittingly, the scale found me in Tokyo, where it complemented perfectly the local architecture and my minimalist yet techni-style Japanese surroundings. It was the perfect fusion of precision and design aesthetic that honestly made me that much more excited every time I went to set up my next nomadic brew, and I was eager to take it to the streets.
Whipping it out on the Shinkansen was an adventure in itself. Of course, I still managed to make probably my most accurately dosed brew ratio ever before quickly realizing that we would be arriving at my next stop, Fuji-Shin, within 3 minutes of squeezing out the last drop from my Aeropress. That was regrettably the fastest cup of coffee I’ve ever drank. Don’t underestimate the Shinkansen, ever.
